Meditation is the Next New Thing in Silicon Valley

Meditation is taking Silicon Valley by storm. Companies such as Google are holding regular meditation classes inside their corporate campus with a waiting list of 400 employees. The co-founders of Twitter and Facebook have introduced meditation sessions and structure the work routine to enhance mindfulness.

Meditation became popular in the Valley during the 1960s with the hippie youth movement. People like Steve Jobs were seeking Enlightenment and spiritual oneness. Nowadays meditation is seen as the latest tool to unlock creativity, increase focus and concentration and to live a more harmonious life. These new students of meditation are not necessarily interested in learning about Buddhism. They are looking for practical tips to improve their work and personal lives. These new devotees to meditation want to boost their brain power and to increase productivity. They want to use meditation to decrease stress and anxiety.
